Liners are the final layer of the nappy system, and provide a thin barrier between the nappy and baby's bottom. This is to keep the bottom largely dry (dryness will vary from liner to liner), and hopefully poo is confined to the liner, rather than the nappy – which makes changing time much easier. There are essentially two types of nappy liner: with washable liners, poo should be removed from the liner into the toilet before the liner is added to the bucket and then eventually washed; with flushable liners, the nappy is simply shaken over the toilet and liner, poo and all are flushed away.
