Some facts from history
Chess: 2 player board game played on a chessboard. Chess comes probably from India, its earliest form in 6th century was known as caturanga ("four divisions"). The earliest evidence of chess is found in Persia around 600, where the game was known as chatrang. Chatrang was taken up by the Muslim world, renamed to shatranj, but in Europe replaced with the Persian word shah ("king") and became the English word "check" and "chess". By the year 1000 the game had spread through Europe and the rules of shatranj started to be modified. Around 1475 in southern Europe (Italy, Spain) several major changes made the game essentially as it is known today.
Do not get angry, man: simple board game for 2-4 players, recommended age: 5+. The game was invented in India around 6th century and called Pachisi. Some emperors were even playing living Pachisi using girls from their harem. Some versions of the Pachisi game made it to England in 19th century where it was patented under the name Ludo (from latin "I play"). Ludo has more equivalents, the German version Mench, ärgere dich nicht (issued in 1914) has similar names in Dutch, Croatian, Czech and Slovak. There is a similar variation of the game in England called Sorry.
Mill: strategy board game for 2 players, recommended age: any. The game is known as Nine Men's Morris and was well known already in Roman Empire. But the earliest board for the game comes from Ancient Egypt and can be probably dated to 1400 BCE.
Domino: The oldest known domino set was found in Tutankhamen's tomb and it is dated from around 1350 B.C.E. Domino was very popular in China, according to historians, a Chinese set with 32 pieces existed in the year 1120 AD. In early 18th century the domino made its way to Italy.
Dice: A die (plural dice) was used in Asia since before recorded history. The oldest known dice were part of a 5000-year-old backgammon set found in Iran. Dice were used in India and gambling with two or three dice was popular in Ancient Greece. The Romans were passionate gamblers, even if in Roman Empire was dicing forbidden.
